Tunisia
Member of PPRD South 3 Partner Country Network
Tunisia is one of the 10 partner countries of the PPRD South 3 programme. Together, they are mobilizing to develop Euro-Mediterranean collaboration in risk management and disaster preparedness.
In Tunisia, the implementation of the activities of PPRD South 3 is led by the National Office of Civil Protection, which is itself under the authority of the Ministry of the Interior. Civil protection, created in 1894, has undergone many phases, most recently the creation of the National Office of Civil Protection.
According to the 1993-121 Act of 27 December 1993, its mission includes: participating in the preparation, update and implementation of the national plan and regional plans for preventing and fighting disasters and organizing relief efforts each time that disasters harm or threaten people, national property or nature and the environment. This mission is being implemented in cooperation and coordination with the various authorities and public institutions that are helping to implement the state's civil protection policy, whether in Tunisia or within the framework of the international cooperation in the field of civil security.
